• Groups meet weekly.
• Each person exclusively represents their line of business/industry within their group.
• Company size does not matter.
• Seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Waiting lists will be maintained and openings filled as possible.
• Cost for participation is $50/year.

Education Program
The York County Chamber of Commerce works with various local and state organizations to host
various educational seminars and programs throughout the year. Tier two and three chamber
members may attend for free (limit two employees per session). Tier one members receive a
discounted rate for each session. Non-members must pay full price for each session. A list of
upcoming seminars can be seen on the calendar of events.

Information Packet Fulfillment
Each month the Chamber receives numerous requests for information packets via the web site and by
phone, either for visitors planning a trip to our area or for new resident relocation purposes. The
Chamber then sends out a visitor or relocation information packet, respectively. These packets include various county and chamber information as well as brochures for all Tier three chamber members.
Tier three members may include one of their company brochures in the packet of their choice. Tier
three members will receive a listing of all packet recipients on a regular basis so they may follow up on these leads.

Member-2-Member Discount Program
The Member-2-Member Discount program offers great deals and discounts by various chamber
members to other chamber members. Any member can offer discounts or take advantage of this
program.
If you are interested in offering a discount to other chamber members under this program, contact the Chamber office at 757-877-5920.

over 40 other chambers.

New Member Receptions
New Member Receptions are held quarterly to educate all new members on the benefits they receive
as a chamber member. This event is a great opportunity to meet other chamber members, get
valuable exposure for your business, and to learn how you can become involved with the chamber to
maximize your investment. See the online event calendar for details on an upcoming reception.

Political Action
The Chamber’s non-partisan political action committee meets regularly to discuss legislation and
topics that affect business. This committee is tasked with identifying and researching local business related issues and, through various outreach efforts, educating Chamber members on these issues.
They are truly the “Voice of Business,” advocating the business community’s concerns and
emphasizing changes in policies that affect member businesses.
Chamber leaders meet monthly with two members of the York County Board of Supervisors, the
Director of the County’s Economic Development department, and the County’s Business Development Representative to keep all parties apprised of current businesses initiatives and concerns. The committee hosts an annual Meet Your Local Leaders Luncheon and various other candidate forums as needed.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies
The Chamber provides various ribbon cutting services to new York County businesses, such as
providing the ribbon and large scissors, attending and speaking at the event, and providing a York
County Ribbon Cutting Guide.

2008 Programs

Small Business of the Year Award
Each year the Chamber awards one deserving York County business with the “Pete Sterrett” Small
Business of the Year Award. The purpose of the award is to recognize a small York County business
that has demonstrated outstanding business achievements over the past year. The chosen award
winner is recognized at York County’s Occasion for Business and Industry Dinner, held each October.
Nominations are solicited via the Chamber’s web site each August.

Speed Networking Luncheons
Quarterly Speed Networking luncheons are held at various York County restaurants. These events are
similar to “speed-dating” where a structured networking environment is provided for all attendees.
Attendees have 3 minutes to introduce themselves and their business to another attendee before the bell rings and everyone moves to meet the next attendee. This structured networking event offers
attendees an ideal chance to meet many new business contacts and to get maximum exposure of
their own business.
